JANUARY 19 9:38AM | A man who was shot last Tuesday when a suspect walked up to a group of people gathered outside a home in Rose Park and opened fire succumbed to his injuries over the weekend, police said.
The victim, identified as 22-year-old Jose De Jesus Cabral Orozco of Long Beach, died Friday after remaining in critical condition since Tuesday night’s shooting, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
“The motive is unclear,” LBPD spokeswoman Megan Zabel told the Long Beach Post. “We cannot say whether it is possibly gang related or not at this point.”

JANUARY 14 10:26AM | A man is in critical condition after he was shot in the area of Rose Park Tuesday night, police said.
Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers responded to a shots fired call on the 2300 block of East 10th Street at about 9:00PM, said LBPD spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.
Police learned that a suspect walked up to a group of people gathered in the yard of a residence and opened fire.
A man in his 20s was struck by gunfire, and was transported by Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel to a local hospital in critical condition.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene due to the seriousness of the victim’s injuries, Pratt said.
No suspect information is available at this time, and the investigation is ongoing. We will update this story as we learn more.
