A man was shot and wounded when two people tried to rob him near Jordan High School Monday evening, according to police.

The victim didn’t report the shooting until some time after it happened, Long Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said.

Police learned about it after medics responded to the 2100 block of Pine Avenue around 11:10 p.m. and took the man to a local hospital, De Prez said.

The man told police he was shot outside a business in the 6500 block of Atlantic Avenue, according to De Prez. However, she said, officers weren’t able to find any evidence of a shooting there.

Police said the man had been shot in the “lower torso” and the wound didn’t appear to be life threatening.

Authorities described the suspects only as two men in a vehicle.
