A man was rushed to the hospital after being shot Wednesday on a Pine Avenue sidewalk near Pacific Coast Highway, Long Beach police said.

Police said they rushed to the area around 9:40 p.m. when someone called them about hearing gunshots.

Officers found the man, who’d been shot in the upper and lower body, and paramedics took him to the hospital where he was expected to survive, LBPD Sgt. Rudy Garcia said.

Police said they don’t know why the man was shot and they don’t have a detailed description of the gunman.
