Long Beach police are investigating a shooting Friday night that left one man wounded, police said.
Officers were called to the area of Ninth Street and Chestnut Avenue at about 11:20 p.m. where they found a man with gunshot wounds to his upper body, Lt. James Richardson said. Paramedics took him to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses told police there may have been a second victim who fled the scene, but police couldn’t find them and nobody has come forward.
Investigators found bullet casings at the crime scene and several vehicles had been hit as well, according to Richardson.
Police do not yet know the motivation for the shooting, but are investigating it as gang-related.
