Police are looking for a gunman who shot a man Sunday night near Gumbiner Park in Downtown Long Beach.

The victim was walking east on Seventh Street near Marrieta Court when he was shot in the upper torso, police said. He was taken to a nearby hospital and was expected to survive.

“The suspect and victim are not known to each other and the motive of the shooting is unknown,” police said, adding that they don’t believe the crime is gang-related.

Police had no description of the shooter, other than he was male.

The shooting occurred at about 9:20 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of E. Seventh Street, which is near the park and the Museum of Latin American Art.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
