A man was stabbed on Second Street in Belmont Shore just after midnight Monday, and police are looking for the attacker, according to authorities.

Officers found the man on the sidewalk not far from Livingston Drive after getting a call about an assault that had just happened, Long Beach Police Department spokesman Ben Hearst said. That area of Second Street is lined with popular restaurants and bars.

The man was stabbed in the upper body, according to Hearst. He was taken to a local hospital where he was expected to survive, Hearst said.

Police said they couldn’t yet provide any details on a suspect or a possible motive.

They asked anyone with information to contact detectives at 562-570-7366. Anyone with an anonymous tip can call Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
