A man was taken to the hospital after being stabbed in a Long Beach park Wednesday night, but he wouldn’t cooperate when police showed up, according to authorities.

Police learned about the stabbing from the Long Beach Fire Department, who were called to help the man near the intersection of 16th Street and Obispo Avenue around 10:55 p.m., LBPD spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said.

Despite the lack of cooperation, police were able to determine the stabbing happened in a nearby park after some kind of argument with another man, Dandoy said.

Firefighters took the man to a local hospital to treat a wound to his upper body, but he declined medical treatment, police said.
