A man was stabbed in the chest and hospitalized Wednesday morning after getting into a fight with another man at a North Long Beach apartment building.

The violence started with a dispute inside an apartment on Orange Avenue near Harding Street, Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said.

Police rushed to the scene around 10:45 a.m., found the wounded man and quickly arrested the attacker, according to Pratt.

Officers gave the victim medical aide until paramedics arrived and took him to the hospital in critical but stable condition, she said.

The two men know each other, Pratt said, but police couldn’t immediately say what the dispute was about.
