A man was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly stabbing two people near St. Mary Medical Center, police said.

The stabbings happened at around 9:38 p.m. when the suspect got into an argument with a woman he knew in the 1000 block of Olive Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

It’s not clear what sparked the argument, but at some point, another man stepped in to try and separate them, police said. That’s when the suspect stabbed him and the woman, police said.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel tended to both victims and then took them to the hospital for treatment, police said, adding that their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The suspect fled before police got to the scene of the crime, but officers later found him at a hospital seeking treatment for injuries he suffered during the altercation, authorities said. He was identified by police as 27-year-old Albert Dylon Knightstead.

Knightstead was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder and his bail was set at $2.1 million, police said. The investigation is ongoing, they added.
