A fight on a Metro Blue Line platform in Long Beach at the 5th Street Station this morning resulted in the stabbing and hospitalization of one victim and the closure of the station, according to officials.

Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman (LBPD) Marlene Arrona said officers were dispatched at 8:02AM to assist the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) with a stabbing victim at the East 5th Street platform.

According to Ramon Montenegro of the Sheriff’s Transit Policing Division, the victim was “cut with a sharp object” and was hospitalized with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

The suspect remains at large.

Delays of about 20 minutes occurred on the rail service, which bypassed the station, according to Metro.
