Police are looking for a man they believe is responsible for two separate early morning stabbings in Downtown Long Beach that resulted in three men being wounded.

In the first incident shortly before 1:20 a.m. today, a man stabbed two other men with an unknown weapon at Taco Beach on Pine Avenue and then fled the scene, police spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said.

Both victims were stabbed in the upper body and taken to a local hospital in stable condition, she said.

Then at about 3:10 a.m., police officers were called to a local hospital about another stabbing. They talked to a man who said he went to the hospital after being stabbed earlier near Pine Avenue and Third Street, Dandoy said. He had a wound to his lower body, but it wasn’t life-threatening and he was in stable condition, according to police.

Detectives are still trying to figure out exactly when the man was stabbed, but they believe it was shortly after the first attack at Taco Beach, Dandoy said.

They believe the same suspect was involved in both incidents and described him as a man in his 20s, she said.

Detectives don’t know what the motive for the stabbings is or if the suspect and victims knew each other.

“In each stabbing, the victims and suspect were involved in an altercation prior to the stabbing,” Dandoy said. She said she did not know the nature of the altercations.

Gang detectives are investigating both incidents, she said.
