One of three suspects connected to the theft of multiple birds from a Long Beach home in May was charged with grand theft and possession for sales on Tuesday at the Long Beach Superior Courthouse, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officials announced.

Long Beach resident Gerardo Jose Victoria, 31, was arrested on June 10 on the 800 block of East Pacific Coast Highway, and held on $40,000 bail after detectives identified him as one of the suspects.

Victoria was eventually released on June 18, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s Inmate Information Center.

zermenoPolice continue to search for 42-year-old Jose Jesus Zermeno—who is suspected of entering the backyard of a home on the 6700 block of Harbor Avenue on May 4 and stealing five parrots.

Surveillance footage shows Zermeno climbing over the backyard fence, opening cages, removing the birds and allegedly handing them over to Victoria.

Zermeno is described as a male Hispanic, about 5 feet, 3 inches tall and a medium build.

Officials also continue to seek a third person—suspected of driving the getaway vehicle, a red Ford Ranger truck.
