Police say a 33-year-old woman fled from officers looking for drunk drivers in North Long Beach on Thursday, but she soon crashed into a parked car following a brief pursuit.
The pursuit began around 2:37 p.m. Thursday when officers conducting a DUI saturation patrol near 67th Way and Curtis Avenue spotted a vehicle partially parked on a sidewalk, according to Long Beach police.
When officers approached the car, the woman drove off. Officers gave chase, but the pursuit was canceled roughly three minutes later, police said.
A short time after the pursuit was canceled, the driver crashed her sedan into a parked vehicle near Paramount Boulevard and Thompson Street, police said.
The woman was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
She was booked into jail on suspicion of DUI, evading police and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer for allegedly trying to hit an officer with her vehicle, according to jail records.
