Twelve people were arrested in a three-week auto crimes pilot program conducted by the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) that ended Monday, police said in a statement Tuesday.
Since January 21, uniformed and undercover officers from the LBPD’s North Patrol Division focused enforcement efforts toward combating automobile crimes, specifically auto theft and auto burglary.
The operation netted six felony arrests and six misdemeanor arrests for crimes like driving a stolen vehicle, receiving stolen property and parole violations. It also yielded 41 traffic citations, 14 recovered stolen vehicles, five vehicles towed for miscellaneous violations and more than 85 people interviewed.
“The Long Beach Police Department is committed to reducing auto crime and the North Division plans to continue supporting this goal with additional operations,” the LBPD said in a statement.
