Two separate shootings occurred overnight in Long Beach with both leaving Long Beach police officers with little information as to motive or any leads on potential suspects, authorities say.

Police were dispatched at around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday to the Carmelitos area in North Long Beach where a no-hit shooting had occurred.

Officers found bullet casings and a building that had been struck by gunfire but no apparent victim according to an LBPD spokesperson who said the investigation is still ongoing.

On Thursday morning, officers responded to an area hospital where a suspected shooting victim was taken with wounds to his upper torso, according to police. The motive and location of the shooting are unknown because of the victim’s refusal to cooperate with their investigation, police say.

A spokesperson for the department said that LBPD officers were dispatched to an area hospital around 6:35 a.m. Thursday to investigate the shooting. There they found an adult male victim with non-life-threatening injuries to his upper torso.

The man declined to provide officers with the location of where he was shot or any information on a potential suspect, said the spokesperson.

The department said that the investigation is also ongoing.
