A Long Beach woman was arrested Thursday morning in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood after a dispute with her significant other ended with her firing shots into the air, according to authorities.

Police identified the woman as 27-year-old Wendy Guevara of Long Beach and said she was arrested under suspicion of negligently discharging a firearm. Police said that the firearm was recovered at the scene.

Nobody was wounded by the gunfire, but Long Beach police officers responded to an area along Long Beach Boulevard just south of Carson Street at 10:54 a.m. after shots were reported in the area, according to the department.

A police spokesperson said that bullet casings were recovered in the area and a preliminary investigation found that no one was hit and no property damage was caused by the rounds that were fired.

Police said they believe two people were involved in a dispute that escalated into the gunfire. Officers detained a man and Guevara without incident upon arriving at the scene.
