Two Suspects Arrested for Possibly Running a Drug Lab in Bixby Knolls
Two suspects were arrested this morning for possibly being associated with a drug lab in Bixby Knolls.
The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) responded with the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) to the scene in the 4300 block of Maury at about 1:00AM in regard to a call about a chemical odor, according to LBPD spokeswoman Megan Zabel.
Upon arrival, officers discovered chemicals that may be associated with a drug lab, based on an initial investigation. LBPD narcotics detectives and Los Angeles Impact Investigators responded and are currently still on the scene investigating.
A few houses around the residence have been evacuated for precautionary safety measures, Zabel said.
“LA Impact investigators are the experts with investigating and processing drug lab scenes,” she said. “They are currently processing this scene for evidence which will be followed up by a Hazardous Materials clean-up process.”
Two suspects are in custody and are at a local hospital receiving treatment for minor exposure to chemicals prior to being booked.
