UPDATE | Detectives have made an arrest in the murder investigation of a woman who died at a local hospital after being shot in a North Long Beach motel.

Identified as 29-year-old Terry Moore of Compton, the suspect was arrested in Lancaster on Wednesday.

He was booked into the Long Beach Jail for the April 21 murder and an outstanding warrant for violating his post-release conditions for an earlier domestic violence conviction, according to the LBPD.

Moore is being held without bail and will be arraigned in Long Beach Superior Court on Friday, May 26 in department one.

4/24/17 at 3:17PM | A woman fatally shot inside a North Long Beach motel room following a dispute Friday morning has been identified as a 29-year-old Long Beach resident.

Authorities said police found Lanette Washington with a gunshot wound inside a room at the Luxury Inn motel and paramedics subsequently transported her in serious condition to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Investigating officers also closed off roads in a nearby neighborhood for hours as they attempted to search for the suspect, activating SWAT and a K-9 response to assist. Residents in the affected area were also evacuated to a nearby school not in session.

The search ended at about 5:30PM that day.

The suspect, still at large, is described as a black man in his 20s, wearing a red shirt and jeans.

Detectives believe the shooting may have been the result of a dispute.

PREVIOUSLY: Woman Dies Following North Long Beach Motel Shooting

4/21/17 at 12:04PM | A woman died at a local hospital after she was shot in a North Long Beach motel this morning, according to authorities.

Police found the victim when they responded to the shooting call at 9:50AM near Long Beach Boulevard and Cambridge Street, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said.

She was transported to a local hospital in serious condition and has since been pronounced dead, Pratt added.

A search for the suspect—who fled the scene before police arrived— is underway as authorities have blocked access to nearby roads, including Gordon Street to Allington Street and Long Beach Boulevard to the Long Beach (710) Freeway.

Residents in the affected area are being evacuated to a nearby school that is not in session due to spring break, Pratt said.
