A 58-year-old woman injured in a collision in North Long Beach has died, police said today.
The crash occurred about 8:30 a.m. on March 8 at Atlantic Avenue and Harding Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
“The preliminary investigation suggests the female driver was traveling northbound on Atlantic Avenue and attempted to turn left onto Harding Street when her vehicle was struck,” police said. “… a 2022 Chrysler 300, driven by a male adult, was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Atlantic Avenue when it struck (the woman’s) 2010 Pontiac G6.”
The collision sent both vehicles into the southwest corner of the intersection where the Chrysler 300 then struck a sign and a cinder block wall, police said.
The woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, while the man was taken to a hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries to his lower body, the department said.
On Sunday, police were informed that the woman, Kay Lynn Dehorney of Long Beach, died.
“At this time, speed is considered a contributing factor in the collision,” police said.
