Police said a woman was walking in Long Beach’s Rose Park neighborhood when a woman she didn’t know attacked her late Tuesday night.

The victim was near Sixth Street and Dawson Avenue around 11:15 p.m. when the attacker approached and cut her with what investigators think was a pocket knife, LBPD spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said.

Police said they don’t know at this point why the woman attacked. She fled on foot, and officers are still looking for her, De Prez said.

The attack left the victim with cuts to her upper body, according to police. Medics took her to a local hospital where she was treated for the wounds, which weren’t life-threatening, De Prez said.
