A woman was arrested for shooting at a man leaving their home after a dispute Monday night, according to Long Beach police.

Police said she fired off several rounds but missed hitting anyone at around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway.

When officers arrived, they found evidence of a shooting and two men they started interviewing, according to LBPD spokesman Alvino Herrera.

“While questioning one of the victims at the scene, the suspect returned and was arrested,” Herrera said.

Herrera said the woman had gotten into a “domestic dispute” with one of the men as he was leaving the home they shared. She then got a handgun and started shooting at him, Herrera said.

Police declined to be any more specific about the dispute or the relationship between the man and the woman.

Authorities identified the suspected shooter as Denise Newton, 34. She was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, inflicting corporal injury on a cohabitant, carrying a loaded firearm in public and a probation violation, Herrera said.

She’s was held without bail, according to jail records.
