Long Beach police are investigating three separate shootings that happened overnight in the same neighborhood. It doesn’t appear anyone was injured in the gunfire, police said.

In the first shooting, police were called to the Carmelitos housing in the 800 block of Via Wanda around 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, police spokesman Ivan Garcia said. When officers got there, they found evidence of a shooting, including bullet casings, but no suspects.

Hours later, at about 10:50 p.m., officers responded to another shooting call about a mile away in the 4900 block of Grisham Avenue, Garcia said. At the scene, they again found evidence of a shooting, including a bullet casing and a home that had been hit by gunfire. The officers checked on people in that home and in the area but found no one injured, Garcia said.

Finally, at around midnight, police got another report of a shooting in the same block as the first shooting. A woman told officers she was parked in her vehicle on the street when a suspect or suspects in a dark-colored sedan drove by and shot at her. Police found bullet strike-marks on her vehicle. She wasn’t hurt, police said.

Investigators don’t know the reasons for the shootings and do not have any suspect information available yet. They are all still under investigating, Garcia said.

It’s so far unclear if police believe any of the shootings are connected. Long Beach police officials have recently said there’s been an increase in shooting calls, but detailed statistics weren’t immediately available.

Police asked that anyone with information about the shootings contact investigators at 562-570-7370. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling 1-800-222-8477 or visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org
