A woman called for help after realizing she’d been shot while driving through Cerritos early Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

The woman was alone in her car headed south on Shoemaker Road near the 91 Freeway around 1:30 a.m. when she heard popping sounds, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

“At this time she felt pain to her upper torso, and used her cell phone to call authorities,” according to the sheriff’s department.

She’d been shot at least once in the upper torso, according to authorities. Paramedics took her to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

Authorities didn’t have any details on a possible suspect or motive. They asked anyone with information to call the Cerritos sheriff’s station at 562-860-0044.
