A woman was hospitalized after being shot during a fight with another woman at a home in North Long Beach, according to authorities.
Long Beach police said the shooting happened around 10:50 p.m. Tuesday at a residence in the 6400 block of Atlantic Avenue.
The two women were in a “physical altercation” when it escalated into gunfire, the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement.

The shooter fled before officers arrived, according to the LBPD.
Police said the two women knew each other but did not say what they were fighting about.
The wounded woman’s injuries weren’t life-threatening, police said.
Shootings have been on the rise in Long Beach this year. For the first four months of 2024, the city averaged almost one shooting per day, according to data released last week by the LBPD.
