Police say a woman was hospitalized after being shot in North Long Beach but she refused to give officers details of the crime.

The shooting was reported just after 9:30 p.m. in the 6000 block of Olive Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The area is a few blocks south of Houghton Park.

The woman was in the area when multiple suspects arrived in a vehicle and shot her in the lower body, according to the LBPD. Officers arrived shortly after and found bullet casings, but by then the suspects and the victims had left the scene.

Officers later located the woman after she arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, police said. However, she would not provide details about the shooting to officers, police added.

A motive for the shooting remains unclear and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
