Police say a woman was found dead this morning inside a parked car at an East Long Beach shopping center, but they have no reason to believe she was the victim of a crime.

At about 9:33 a.m., officers responded to a shopping center near the intersection of Palo Verde Avenue and East Spring Street after someone called 911 to report a vehicle “emitting a strong odor,” Long Beach police Sgt. Bradford Stein wrote in an email.

When they arrived, officers found a woman dead inside a parked car, but did not find any signs of foul play, Stein wrote.

Investigators with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner were looking into her cause of death, Stein wrote.

Her name and age were not immediately available.
