For the first time in its 24-year history, the Long Beach International City Bank Marathon will be taking its participants through the campus of California State University, Long Beach.
In years past, the course ran around the exterior of the campus, but this year University President, F. King Alexander and International City Racing CEO, Bob Seagren collaborated to have the marathon run through the campus of Cal State Long Beach.
Participants will run three miles through the interior of the campus and get a first hand experience of life at “The Beach.”
“Our university is very excited to host those who will be participating in the Long Beach International City Bank Marathon,” said Alexander.
Runners will be welcomed on Sunday morning by hundreds of Cal State Long Beach students spread all across campus, and gain a true sense of “Beach Pride.”
Dozens of campus organizations, including student athletes, the Greek system, and other student clubs will line the marathon course to support the runners.
The day will also include performances by PAC Modern, the Salsa Club, UPSTART, Umidaiko Drummers, the Breakers Club, the Pep Band, and Cheer and Dance Teams.
“We promise them a beautiful location every step of their way through our campus,” said Alexander. “Our students and others will make sure to let them know they’re welcome and doing a great job.
