12:35pm | It must be election season, because three different debates will be held tonight to question candidates in three entirely different races for office.

The Long Beach Press Club will hold a debate between candidates for the City Attorney position, while the Parent Teacher Association will hold a debate for candidates in the race for City Prosecutor as well as a debate for candidates in the race for First District School Board.

The Press Club debate is the third such public forum in the organization’s Debates At ‘Da Beach series, and will be held at Gaslamp Restaurant on 6251 E. PCH, beginning at 7:00pm. Incumbent City Attorney Robert Shannon will face challenger – and current City Prosecutor – Tom Reeves for the seat. The Press Club has held debates between candidates for the 9th and 7th District City Council seats. The lbpost.com will be a guest panelist in the upcoming debate between 5th District candidates, to be held at Eldorado Restaurant on March 29. The other series of debates will be held by the PTA tonight at the Hughes Middle School auditorium at 3846 California Avenue, beginning at 7:00pm. Incumbent 1st District School Board member Mary Stanton will face challenger Jeff Price. At 7:45pm, City Prosecutor candidates Timothy O’Reilly and Doug Haubert will square off. Ever-present moderator Alan Tolkoff will host the event and questions will be taken from the audience.

Happy debating!
