8:55am | The City of Long Beach has a new Director of Human Resources, they announced in a press release yesterday.

After 28 years of experience with the City, Debbie Mills was appointed into the role by City Manager Pat West. Mills was named Acting Director of Human Resources in October 2009 and previously served as Manager of Personnel Operations, and was an Employee Benefits Officer prior to that.

“I look forward to working with the Mayor and City Council, City management, labor organizations, and employees to find creative ways to address the challenges facing our workforce and the City,” Mills said in a statement.

Mills primary responsibility will be overseeing a staff of 24 employees that provide guidance and operational support to City departments.
