10:15am | Deborah Ellis will be the newest addition to one of Long Beach’s most important departments, as she will replace outgoing James Johnson – who recently won election to the City Council – as Assistant City Auditor. Ellis will come to the Auditor’s office from her current position as Chief Financial Officer of the Long Beach Public Transportation Company, according to a press release yesterday from the office of City Auditor Laura Doud.
“If there was ever the right person at the right time for the right job, it is Debbie Ellis,“ said City Auditor Doud. “Debbie’s experience, professional expertise, and analytical skills will be a tremendous asset as our staff builds on the successes of our first term. Debbie adds immediate value to our work serving the citizens of Long Beach.”
Ellis has served as CFO of the Public Transportation Company for nearly twenty years, where she oversaw payroll for 700 employees, financial management and handling $75 million in annual grants. She served three years in the Auditor’s office before coming to the Public Transportation Company.
“I am excited to be joining the City Auditor’s team,” said Ellis, “I have been impressed with all the Office has accomplished under Laura’s leadership in the past four years, and I am looking forward to building on this success.”
