9:30am | Delius is a delightful choice for lunch, dinner or just to have a glass of wine and an appetizer.  Delius – said DEE-lee-us, not DEH-lee-us (like I thought for the longest time) – has a varied menu that includes everything from simple offerings like pulled-pork sliders (which are amazing and one of my favorite treats) and macaroni-and-cheese, to involved and complex entrees like an apple-fennel-goat cheese stuffed port tenderloin, served with potato gnocchi, baby carrots, and cherries in a sherry cream sauce.

The pork tenderloin entrée, by the way, was sublime and the meal of the night on my last visit.  The pork (pictured right) was perfectly cooked and incredibly tender; the sherry sauce with cherries was the perfect combination of sweet and savory.  The gnocchi were also perfectly prepared and were soft little pillows of starch that brought the whole dish together.  It will be hard to order anything else there for dinner the next time I go.

Other things to try include the pan roasted salmon which (pictured bottom right), while it lacked some of the complexity of the pork tenderloin, was perfectly cooked. It was served with orzo, broccolini, and a tarragon-red wine reduction.  Any chef will tell you that roasted chicken is one of the best ways to test one’s skill and Delius’s crispy chicken breast does not disappoint.  Crispy skin and tender juicy meat served with bleu cheese potato gratin and chicken jus; rich and delicious even in its simplicity – don’t pass this dish up. For veggie lovers there is a wonderful polenta dish with a rich tomato sauce topped with grilled vegetables.

In addition to their food, Delius has a very nice selection of wines by the glass or bottle.  They also feature Chimay on draught which is really a treat.  For those who don’t know, Chimay is a Belgian beer made by monks who live in a Trappist monastery.  This rich and clean copper-brown beer has a creamy head and a slightly bitter taste with floral hop notes.  It’s widely available in a bottle but much better this way.  Pair your favorite beer or wine with one of their happy hour treats like the pulled port slider or fish tacos.

Their lunch menu has a good range of sandwiches, burgers, pizzas and salads with more reasonable prices and portions to suit your mid-day meal needs.

The wife and husband, Chef/General Manager Team of Louise and Dave Solzman have built a fine restaurant that meets almost every need you could have.  They are very active and hands-on; I have enjoyed talking with each of them and even shared a glass of wine at the bar with Louise.

In addition to all of this, Delius offers a prix fixe seven-course dinner Tuesday through Saturday at 7:15pm.  I have yet to try this menu – but based on my experience – I cannot wait to for the chance.
