An unidentified man was wounded by Los Angeles County Sheriff Department deputies after an exchange of gunfire in front of a restaurant on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach.

The shooting occurred between Lemon and Cerritos avenues along PCH at 12:30PM Friday, causing a section of the highway to be closed with law enforcement activity. The deputies were from the sheriff’s Lakewood Station, according to broadcast reports.

Details of the incident have not yet been released, but a witness told the Press-Telegram the suspect was shot after he exchanged gunfire with deputies who blocked his vehicle outside a restaurant filled with people. The man’s condition is currently unknown and the shooting remains under investigation.
