Dispute leads to shooting, car theft in East Long Beach Thursday night

A dispute over a car in East Long Beach escalated Thursday night when one of the people involved pulled a gun and fired at the vehicle owner as the owner was running away, police said.

Officers responded to a call on the 3200 block of Anaheim Street at 9:15 p.m., encountering only the owner of the vehicle, who said the three people took off with his car after pulling a gun and shooting at him.

According to police, the victim and the three assailants—two men, one woman—knew each other and were fighting over the use of the car.

Police said they have not yet located the car.
