A woman was shot to death and a man was wounded late Sunday night outside a home in Long Beach’s Hellman neighborhood, according to authorities.

Police said they got a call about gunshots around 11 p.m. on Hoffman Avenue, just south of 10th Street. Hoffman is between Alamitos and Cherry avenues.

When officers arrived, they found a man and a woman who’d been wounded in front of residence, Long Beach police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said. Both were shot in the torso, police said.

Paramedics took them to the hospital where the woman died, according to Pratt. The man was in stable condition, she said.

Coroner’s officials identified the woman as Delilah Ayayla. Police said she was 22 and lived in Long Beach. The wounded man is 25 and also lives in Long Beach, police said.

Investigators haven’t determined a motive for the shooting but suspect it was gang-related, according to a news release from the department.

No suspect information was immediately available.

Pratt asked anyone with information about the shooting to call homicide detectives at 562-570-7244.
