3:53pm | Doug Otto, current President of the Long Beach Community College (LBCC) Board of Trustees, has received the endorsements of two Long Beach Community College faculty unions in his campaign for re-election as a Trustee of the LBCC in the April 10, 2012 election.
“The full time faculty association looks forward to this opportunity to work together to further the success of LBCC students through collaborative efforts. It is the Association’s goal to continue to develop a community college culture of quality, respect and appreciation for all the students, faculty, staff and others who make LBCC what is and what it can be,” said Dr. Lynn Shaw, President of the Community College Association (CCA) at LBCC. Dr. Shaw confirmed that the LB – CCA Executive Board approved the endorsement and support of Doug Otto on January 24, 2012.
In the announcement of the CHI endorsement of Mr. Otto Karen Roberts, President of LBCC Certificated Hourly Instructors (CHI), said, “Doug works hard for the students at LBCC and we appreciate his commitment and accomplishments,”. CHI represents part-time faculty at LBCC.
Otto, an attorney in private practice in Long Beach, has served two successful terms on the Board of Trustees. During his tenure on this Board, he co-chaired the California Commission on the Future of Community Colleges and the Measure E Campaign to pass a $440 million construction bond for Long Beach City College. Otto has numerous awards and honors, including election to the LBCC Hall of Fame and being the California State Bar Association’s Small Firm Lawyer of the Year in 2011.
