In a special ceremony in front of the Performing Arts Center fountain on Ocean Boulevard, Mayor Foster will literally light up downtown Long Beach by flicking on more than 20,000 lights in a holiday decoration that will put even the most elaborate lawn display to shame.  Trust me, I’m a judge.

The LED lights will be strung on various downtown streets and fixtures, which the City hopes will encourage “pedestrian traffic to notable downtown locations,” according to a press release.  Officials say the light system’s color spectrum is capable of producing an unfathomable 16 million different colors.

The public is invited to this special event at 5:00pm tonight.  Bring your cameras!
