One person was killed when the vehicle they were driving went off the 605 Freeway in Norwalk, crashed into a tree and burst into flames, the California Highway Patrol reported today.
CHP officers were called at approximately 11:09 p.m. Thursday to the northbound freeway, near the Imperial Highway on-ramp, where they learned the vehicle had spun out of control on the freeway, slammed into a tree and was engulfed in flames, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP is still investigating the cause of the crash.
