A driver making a U-turn was killed today when his car was struck by another vehicle in Long Beach.

The crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday near 10th Street and Orange Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police said a black 2023 Nissan Rogue traveling eastbound on 10th Street struck a black 2000 Honda Accord that was attempting to make a U-turn from the south curb.

The driver of the Accord was unconscious in the driver’s seat when officers arrived. He was taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries, the department said.

The driver of the Rogue was cooperative with the investigation, and police said neither distracted driving nor intoxication were considered factors in the crash.

The victim’s identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
