A driver who was possibly under the influence crashed into an electrical pole early Tuesday morning, shutting down major roads near Wilson High School, police said.

Residents in a nearby apartment complex in the area of E. 10th Street and Ximeno Avenue were also evacuated as a precaution shortly after the collision at 4:40 a.m.

The driver of the car, identified as Mark Klukovich, 36, of Long Beach, received medical attention after being transported to a hospital by Long Beach fire officials.

He was then was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, and is being held on $30,000 bail.

The investigation is ongoing.
