Beginning this Saturday at 7PM and running into Sunday morning until 3AM, the Long Beach Police Department’s Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI/License checkpoint somewhere in the North Division.
“Over the course of the past three years, DUI collisions have claimed 14 lives and resulted in 305 injury crashes harming 417 of our friends and neighbors,” said Long Beach Police Sergeant Aaron Alu, also pointing out multiple studies that show that well-publicized checkpoints conducted often enough bring a 20% drop in alcohol-related crashes.
Funding for this checkpoint is provided to Long Beach Police Department by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If you see a Drunk Driver, call 9-1-1.
