Results from the DUI saturation patrol that occured last Saturday night were released yesterday and the numbers are on par with previous efforts by the Long Beach Police Department.
During the eight-hour patrol–which occurred between 8PM and 4AM in both the North and South LBPD Divisions–11 DUI arrests were made and three vehicles were impounded. The LBPD also reported 13 moving violations, 3 misdemeanor arrests and one person being cited for driving without a license.
DUI saturation patrols are set up to combat the staggering statistic that the average American has a 30% chance of being killed or injured by a driver under the influence by removing impaired drivers from the street. Funding for last weekend’s patrols was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Safety Administration.
