Former Redevelopment Agency board member and local real estate consultant Terry Jensen has filed papers to run for election in the race for Long Beach City Council’s 3rd District seat in next April’s election, according to this report from Dave Wielenga of The District Weekly. Jensen is perhaps best known for speaking out against Mayor Foster’s proposed infrastructure parcel tax Measure I, which ultimately failed to achieve the two-thirds vote needed during last November’s election. He has also been a vocal opponent of current 3rd District Councilman Gary DeLong, and the Council’s August decision to approve a land swap that many believed was unfair.

Jensen bought a property in the 3rd District about 18 months ago and rented it to tenants while residing in another Long Beach home, before moving into the property just recently – sparking rumors that he was considering the move to challenge DeLong next year. He ran for the 8th District seat in 2004, but did not qualify for a run-off vote between Robb Webb and Rae Gabelich.
