The Los Angeles County Registrar’s office is reporting a 38.10% voter turnout as of 12:00pm today, a substantial increase over the 33.44% voter turnout recorded at 12:00pm during Election Day in 2004.

The County does not track information specific to Long Beach.

The County releases numbers every hour, and we’ll be monitoring the percentages as they are updated to track the fascinating spike in voter turnout that polling places across the nation are experiencing during this election.

Long Beach City Clerk Larry Herrera has not been able to monitor voter turnout in the city yet, but tells the lbpost.com that he has been inundated with e-mails and phone calls regarding polling places.  If you are unsure where your nearest polling place is, enter your home address into the boxes at the top of our homepage to find out.  Herrera also recommends a similar feature on LaVote.net.

Have you noticed more voters and longer lines than usual?  What impact (if any) will it have on the outcome of the election?  Share your stories in the comments below!
