Fresh food-seekers welcomed a new friend to the city last Saturday, as the East Village Farmers Market made its debut on 1st Street and will be held weekly from now on. The market will be held in the same location every Saturday from 9:00am-1:00pm.
Councilmember Suja Lowenthal was on hand to preside over the opening ceremony and welcome the market to the city.
“Bringing a farmers market into the East Village will provide a healthy alternative for local residents and bring new life to this neighborhood,” Lowenthal said in a press release.
The market will offer high-quality, seasonal produce that is locally grown.
The idea was brought to life by Raw Inspirations, who partnered with the Downtown Long Beach Association (DLBA) and Department of Development Services.
