2:15pm | A former police officer with the Long Beach Police Department was sentenced Wednesday to one year behind bars and three years probation for stealing firearms.

Damian Ramos, 33, pleaded guilty in February to a single count of embezzlement by a public officer in connection with four guns that he removed from police possession. To date, only two of the four weapons have been recovered.

He was originally charged with more than 12 counts, including grand theft.

Ramos received a 190-day credit for time already served because he pleaded to a so-called “nonserious, nonviolent” felony, which provided for one day of credit for every day that he has spent in jail, prosecutors said.
