Fighter jets will scream through the skies above Long Beach over the weekend, city officials warn.

Two U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 combat jets will arrive at Long Beach Airport Saturday, officials announced Thursday. After multiple planned operations, the aircraft are slated to depart Monday morning.

All times are tentative and subject to change without notice, according to the announcement.

The city noted that the jets are “noticeably louder” than other craft that utilize the airport, adding that military operations are exempt from the municipal airport’s noise regulations. The aircraft are expected to do what they can to abate noise, according to the announcement, including modifying arrival and departure flight profiles and minimal use of afterburners.
