A pedestrian was hit by at least one vehicle and killed early this morning on the southbound 710 Freeway in Long Beach, authorities said.

The fatality was reported about 5:30 a.m. at Anaheim Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the pedestrian was hit by at least one vehicle. Information was not immediately available on the identity or gender of the fatally injured person.

All southbound lanes were closed for an investigation. Two southbound lanes were reopened shortly before 7 a.m., but the other lanes remained blocked until shortly before noon, when they were reopened, the CHP reported.
