A 22-year-old man riding a motorcycle was killed Saturday morning after colliding into a building at 59th Street and Atlantic Avenue in North Long Beach, police said.

Speed was likely a factor in the 11 a.m. collision, the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role, they said.

The Long Beach Fire Department transported the man to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said.

The man was riding a 2009 Yamaha R6, traveling northbound on Atlantic Avenue from South Street, when he lost control of his motorcycle, police said.

The man is not yet being identified, pending notification of next of kin.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Long Beach Police Department Det. Kevin Matter or Det. Kelsey Myers at 562-570-7355.
