Feras Morad and momSupporters of Woodland Hills resident Feras Morad, who was fatally shot by a Long Beach police officer last week, will hold a rally and march Thursday afternoon to call for police transparency.

The 20-year-old college student—who was planning on studying political science at California State University, Long Beach in the fall—was reportedly under the influence of psychedelic mushrooms when police said he threatened to attack an officer responding to a call for assistance on the 4600 block of East 15th Street at about 7:30PM on Wednesday, May 27.

“The Long Beach Police Department has refused to change their narrative despite evidence, has refused to notify the family of the deceased, and has refused to acknowledge our requests for transparency,” a statement on the Rally For Feras Facebook event page says.

The demonstration will begin at 4:00PM at Lincoln Park, Pacific Avenue and West Broadway. Participants will then walk two laps around the Long Beach Police Department building.

A previously-announced vigil is scheduled Wednesday night in Woodland Hills.
