7:32pm | Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske will host a Fifth District Community Meeting on Wednesday, June 15, where residents will be provided with an array of information and updates on pertinent city projects. 

The meeting will be held at the Water Treatment Plant on the corner of Spring Street and Redondo Avenue and is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. 

Updates will be provided on the following: crime in the Fifth District, the development at Douglas Park, redistricting, the development at lakewood Boulevard and Willow Street, the demolition of DeMille mIddle School and construction of a new high school on Parkcrest Avenue, the Municipal Band concert schedule and information on other summer activities, sidewalk and street repairs in 2011, proposed sidewalk and street repairs in 2012, implementation of the plastic bag ban in August, implementation of the regulation of medical marijuana collectives and the city budgeting cycle for 2012. 

“I know this is a full schedule, but I want to make sure the residents of the Fifth Council District get the information they need to know about their local government,” Schipske said.
